The earliest origin of Hydrobudowa 9 was an organisational unit established in 1949 under the auspices of the State Construction Company, Poznań Association.

On July 1, 1953, a company was established under the name of Zjednoczenie Robót Inżynieryjnych Budownictwa Miejskiego w Poznaniu [Association of Engineering Works for Municipal Construction in Poznań].

In October 1991, Hydrobudowa 9 Przedsiębiorstwo Inżynieryjno-Budowlane Spółka z o.o. [Hydrobudowa 9 Engineering & Construction Limited Liability Company] was established.

On December 29, 2006, Hydrobudowa 9 Przedsiębiorstwo Inżynieryjno-Budowlane was transformed into a Joint Stock Company.

By way of the decision of the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders, which was enacted on March 17, 2007, and consent given on April 6, 2007 by the President of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection, HYDROBUDOWA 9 Przedsiębiorstwo Inżynieryjno-Budowlane Spółka Akcyjna [HYDROBUDOWA 9 Engineering & Construction Joint Stock Company] was incorporated into the PBG Capital Group.

At present, along with PBG SA, the Group consists of the following companies: Hydrobudowa Polska SA, Infra SA, Gas&Oil Engineering sr.o. of Slovakia and the EXCAN OIL AND GAS ENGINEERING LTD. of Canada.
